Cleaner Railfreight: Climate-neutral rail transports in Germany

News

More and more customers are choosing rail transport over road transport, benefiting from reliable transit times and reducing the ever-increasing volume of traffic on highways. Hellmann's multimodal transport solutions take 200 trucks off the road every day, saving a total of 22,310 tons of greenhouse gas CO₂ in 2022, as shown by DB Cargo certificates.

To become even more sustainable, Hellmann uses the DBeco plus service, which makes rail transport climate-neutral by purchasing the corresponding amount of green electricity from renewable energy sources to replace the conventional rail electricity mix. With this service, Hellmann offers a climate-neutral transport solution as standard, contributing to sustainability and making rail transport even greener.

"With our environmentally friendly multimodal product, we are taking a big step towards Cleaner Logistics, as our customers have been enjoying a climate-neutral transport solution by rail as an included standard since the beginning of the year. But we are not resting on our laurels; we want to become even more sustainable. That's why we are continuously working on making our Rail product even greener." - Dirk Baerbock, Head of Rail Operations.
