Combined Transport: Hellmann Supports Development of the Brokerage and Booking Portal Modility

News

Together with twelve leading companies from the transport and logistics industry, Hellmann supports the development of Modility, a new brokerage and booking portal for intermodal transport alternatives. Modility is an independent and provider-neutral start-up that promotes the entry into climate-friendly CT transports through an open and intuitive booking portal. The portal is currently being developed and tested with the partners in order to prepare the market launch in autumn 2020. Modility is also to be established as a central entry point into the market through the commitment of Hellmann.

With the support of Hellmann, the online platform Modility aims to be established as a central entry point into the  market for Combined Transport.

The start-up Modility offers Hellmann, as a market participant in combined transport (CT), a portal for intermodal transport solutions that offers free transport capacities and makes them easy to book for forwarders. As an open portal with simple user guidance and a fast conclusion possibility for transport bookings, Modility enables access to CO2-friendly CT transport alternatives for everyone interested. The offer will cover both continental and maritime transport.

Modility is being developed with development partners from various sectors of the transport and logistics industry. As a development partner, Hellmann is involved in the design and testing process in order to contribute to the consistent orientation of the portal to the needs of the users. The aim is to integrate requirements and wishes before the portal is launched on the market in autumn 2020, thus creating a win-win situation for the entire market. A website has already been launched at www.modility.com, which gives a first impression of the functional scope of Modility. Potential users should be made aware of Modility and can find out about its advantages, the company itself and current developments.

"Modility offers us the opportunity to market our own train capacities on the one hand, and to buy free capacities on the market on the other. In this way, we as a company benefit twice over and thus strengthen our position in the market for combined transport".

The project at Hellmann is managed by the team of Multimodal Solutions Europe. They see two decisive advantages in the development of the new platform for Hellmann: "Modility offers us the opportunity to market our own train capacities on the one hand, and to buy free capacities on the market on the other. In this way, we as a company benefit twice over and thus strengthen our position in the market for combined transport," says Dirk Baerbock, Head of Multimodal Solutions at Hellmann.

Modility was founded as an independent start-up to help shape the digital future of combined transport. The project initiator is Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA).
