Hapag-Lloyd and WorldWide Alliance are the “Carrier of the Year 2022”

On December 9th, 2022, the annual „Hellmann Carrier of the Year” awards, global and European, were presented at the Anglo-German Club in Hamburg. Hamburg-based container giant Hapag-Lloyd came out on top among the FCL (full container load) carriers. WorldWide Alliance won gold in the LCL (less than container load) category.

Already for the 16th time, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics’ sales and trade teams all around the world have voted the best international ocean carriers. More than 400 team members filled in the survey and the results speak for themselves: Hapag-Lloyd took a clear win again against FCL shipping lines MSC and ONE. Among the LCL carriers, the WorldWide Alliance beat the competition as in previous years.

The past two years, the awards were presented to each winning company only in a small circle. This year, the ceremony was held again in Hamburg’s prestigious Anglo-German Club. Reiner Heiken, CEO Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, Marcus Leaver, COO Seafreight and the Global Sea Freight Team jointly presented the "Carrier of the Year Award 2022" to the FCL and LCL carriers, rewarding them for their exceptional performance in the past year.

During the award ceremony, the 50 guests were treated to a delicious four-course menu, each course being accompanied by 2 wines. As the sommelier of the event location was on sick leave, Marcus Leaver and Helge Neumann-Lezius took over spontaneously and did a tremendous job at that! In total, the event was a fantastic chance to say thank you to our partners and carriers, and to end a tumultuous year in a great and festive mood, even for those who could not claim an award.
