Tautvydas: Certainly. Our HMS team in Lithuania is dedicated to providing logistics solutions tailored to the cruise and marine sector. We oversee a spectrum of services, including transportation, warehousing, and system setups, catering to our clients' diverse needs within a global framework. Additionally, we manage a project consolidation warehouse for one of our key clients and extend support to their cruise ship newbuild operations in Finland.

What area of logistics expertise do you specialize in, and what aspects of your role do you find most fascinating?

Tautvydas: In our domain, we engage with every facet of logistics, from warehousing and customs to documentation and transportation, particularly focusing on "moving destinations," which, in essence, are ships. The dynamism of this industry, coupled with its demand for meticulous attention to detail, intrigues me. I receive immense satisfaction from achieving seemingly impossible challenges, leveraging our expertise to deliver innovative solutions, even in the most exigent scenarios.

With a team size of 13 employees currently, could you share the origin story of your journey with HMS in Lithuania?

Tautvydas: My journey with Hellmann commenced as an intern in Miami, where I first encountered the captivating realm of cruise logistics. Despite initial plans to return to the US post-graduation, visa constraints led me to Hamburg, where I immersed myself in the cruise team. However, the allure of steering HMS in my homeland beckoned, especially amidst the burgeoning prospects in the recovering cruise industry. Supported by the unwavering backing of both regional and local management, I embarked on this endeavor, transforming a solo venture into a thriving team of 13.

What distinguishes your team, and what do you appreciate most about their dynamics?

Tautvydas: Loyalty and trust form the bedrock of our team's ethos. Each member embodies a shared commitment to our vision, fostering not only a professional camaraderie but also genuine friendship. I meticulously handpicked individuals with a long-term perspective, and witnessing their seamless integration into our dynamic milieu has been incredibly gratifying.

Amidst rapid development, what key factors have contributed to your team's growth?

Tautvydas:The rapid evolution of HMS in Lithuania mirrors the resurgence of the cruise and marine industry post-Covid. Our strategic expansion has been buoyed by Lithuania's conducive business environment and a talent pool renowned for its professionalism. Moreover, the concerted support from all stakeholders within Hellmann has been instrumental in propelling our growth trajectory.

Tautvydas: One of our notable successes was our involvement in the 'Icon of the Seas' newbuild project in Finland, where our team orchestrated a myriad of logistical intricacies, from on-site services to transportation logistics, with unparalleled precision. This endeavor epitomized our adeptness in handling complex projects, garnering acclaim within the industry.

Looking ahead, what strategic initiatives are on the horizon for your department?

Tautvydas: As we chart our course forward, we are poised to streamline our administrative processes to enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, we are keen on expanding our operational footprint by onboarding new clients and embarking on ambitious projects slated for late 2024 and early 2025.

Tautvydas: The future of HMS is imbued with promise, both locally and globally. Our unwavering commitment to innovation, coupled with a robust business development framework, positions us as frontrunners in the industry.
