Relief Goods for India

Family

On the evening of April 29, Christian Tesch's phone rang. On the line was his contact at Qatar Airways Cargo. The airline decided to launch 3x Boeing 777 freighter flights with relief supplies from Doha to Bombay, Delhi, and Bengaluru to support the situation in India, and they were looking for shippers to support the initiative with cargo space free of charge. Christian didn’t have to think twice and spread the request within our Airfreight organization.

Quickly the news came from Great Britain that 500,000 mouth and nose masks as well as 60 oxygen concentrators were available in London immediately. It did not take long to coordinate the transport with the airline's cargo team in the UK and to initiate the needful. From London, the relief supplies were flown to Doha and further to India. On-site, they are now being used in local hospitals to improve the local situation.

"Many thanks to the entire Qatar Airways Cargo team, especially the local UK team, without whom the quick and smooth transportation would have not been possible. Also, our entire UK Airfreight team around Owen Mears did a fantastic job. We hope with this movement we were able to contribute in supporting the people of India in their fight against Corona," says Christian Tesch.
