Hellmann UK: New Road & Rail Manager plans to further improve customs processes

Focus

70 new customs agents in Dover, Lichfield and Glasgow

There was a lot of uncertainty in the industry towards the end of last year: What would be the impact of the British leaving the EU, especially against the background of expected delays in customs clearance? As can be seen today - almost seven months later - Hellmann has done its homework. With more than 70 new customs agents, Hellmann was able to prevent delays in both exports and imports. The new colleagues located in our UK headquarters in Lichfield near Birmingham Dover and Glasgow ensure smooth border-crossing processes.

Hellmann runs a dedicated customs office in Dover. The UK customs team counts more than 70 employees in Dover, Lichfield, and Glasgow.

Pre-lodgement accelerates customs clearance

Hellmann was one of the first logistics service providers to offer its customers and shippers the so-called pre-lodgement procedure for imports to the UK at the turn of the year. In this procedure, traders can submit their customs declarations even before the goods are loaded on the EU side.

This ensures that checks are only carried out if necessary and that most goods are released directly for onward travel upon import. In this way, Hellmann, in cooperation with the customs authorities, can avoid import-related waiting times and deliver your shipments safely and, above all, within the scheduled time.

Hellmann additionally simplifies customs clearance for its customers with digital accounting services. Starting with Kuli, shippers can use a new ENS (Safety & Security Declaration) software with an interface to the customs clearance system (ASM). In addition, Hellmann's Digital Opening Pack (DOP) will enable its customers to simplify customs clearance from August.
