Moving a Bucket Wheel to the Desert

Focus

The dedicated Project Team managed and controlled the entire execution of this oversize shipment in cooperation with our project logistic Partner in Europe, maintaining our customer informed during all steps of the transport.

One of the main challenges planning this project cargo was the road survey in Germany, because of road closures based on construction. Also, the barge transport to the port of Hamburg had to be planned thoroughly, not the mention adherence to all international Covid-19 restrictions.

Our Project Team on both sides of the Atlantic, however, was present during the entire operation to ensure that everything ran smoothly. They coordinated all necessary steps with all parties involved, incl. port authorities and customs brokers.  The team supervised the shipment from truck loading at the production site in Magdeburg, Germany to the loading at the port of Hamburg and the off-loading at the port of Angamos, Chile. They accompanied the last mile delivery until the bucket wheel was successfully off-loaded at the job-site in La Negra, Antofagasta, Chile.

Based on this success Hellmann Chile has already been assigned with three additional identical moves and will also start quoting similar shipments to destination Peru.
